These are people are the ones who will re-create the sound taken on footage in order to enhance audio quality, in which the camera didn't pick up. They don't create the sound of explosions or anything to that sort of extent as that is done by the audio engineers, but they will recreate the simpler sounds for example smashing glasses and footsteps. They basically match live sound effects with the action of the picture. They do this by having a small set recreated to match the one originally shot with the professional actors. They will then be shown the footage in which they will copy a character in order to do this.
